Good to know
A kaomoji is a run of ordinary characters, so unlike emoji it does not get redrawn differently on each device.
Ones containing rare symbols can still show as empty boxes on some devices.
Carefully aligned faces look best in a monospace font.
Nothing you type is recorded anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from emoji?
An emoji is a single character whose picture the device draws. A kaomoji is several ordinary characters joined into a face, so it looks the same everywhere it is displayed.
Parts of it show as boxes.
It contains an uncommon symbol that the device's font lacks. Choose another kaomoji, or one built from basic characters.
The alignment looks off.
That happens in fonts where characters have different widths. Symmetrical kaomoji line up properly in a monospace font.
Can I add my own?
The list cannot be extended here. For ones you use often, keep a note or register them in your device's text replacement shortcuts.
