About PlainToolkit
PlainToolkit is a free collection of online tools that run straight in your browser without an account. 68 tools covering PDFs, images, text, dates, calculations, printing and QR codes, in five languages, and no tool ever sends your files anywhere.
What this site is for
Small tasks get in the way all day: one PDF page has to become an image, a photo has to fit under 2MB, someone needs to know how many days are left. Installing software or signing up for each of them is more effort than the task deserves. PlainToolkit exists to finish those jobs in the browser.
The goal is not to have as many tools as possible. A tool is added only if it can be done accurately, handled safely and maintained over time. Some features are deliberately absent, and each tool page says why.
Principles
- Files are not uploaded. The PDF, image and document tools open and edit files inside your browser, so contracts, IDs and anything else private are safe to work with.
- Limits are stated, not hidden. Password-protected PDFs will not open, scanned documents yield no text, public holidays are not deducted. Nothing pretends to work.
- Originals are not quietly altered. Unsupported characters are left as they are rather than swapped for lookalikes, and the photo info remover does not touch a single byte of image data.
- Guesses are not presented as facts. No location estimated from an IP address, no memory size the browser cannot report accurately.
- Five languages, not five translations. Each one is written the way people actually search and read in that language.
How your data is handled
Almost every calculation, conversion and edit happens inside the browser on this device, which is why most tools keep working with the network off.
Four things ever reach a server: the request behind the "my IP address" tool, which simply echoes the address your connection already carries; a tiny signal recording which tools get used; the small data file the "country facts" tool loads for the country you pick; and the analytics beacon that counts page views. None of them carries your files or the text you typed. The privacy policy sets this out in detail.
How it is run
PlainToolkit is free and needs no account. Running costs are intended to be covered by advertising, placed so that it never covers the work area or sits where a download button should be.
If something behaves oddly, note which tool and which input produced it, and check the tool page first — the behaviour may already be documented as a limit.
