Which tool do I need?

Calculators are easy to find; what is usually missing is a statement of the convention used. These 8 tools name theirs — SI or IEC for data sizes, selling price for margin. Nothing you enter is uploaded.

  • Converting units: every unit in a category at once, with SI and IEC data sizes listed separately.
  • Money: price, discount and margin — margin on the selling price, tax excluded.
  • Print and screen sizes: paper/DPI/pixels, photo print sizes, aspect ratio.
  • Also here: straight-line distance between cities, country facts (ISO codes, dialling codes, currency), battery capacity mAh to Wh.
Is 1GB 1024MB?

It depends on the convention. Drive makers count in 1000s (SI), operating systems often in 1024s (IEC) — which is why a 1TB disk shows as 931GB. The converter lists both so there is no ambiguity.

Margin or markup?

Margin, on the selling price. With a cost of 7,000 and a price of 10,000 the margin is 30% while the markup is about 42.9%. Retail usually quotes margin, and tax is not included.
