Numbers are laid on as small images — any language works without a font file, but the number itself cannot be copied or searched. The original body text and fonts are kept. Files are processed in your browser and never sent to a server.

How to use

Adds page numbers to a PDF. Pick a style — "1", "1 / 10", "- 1 -", "page 1" — or write your own, then set position, colour, size, margin and the starting number. The original text and fonts are untouched. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

When to use it

  • Numbering a document end to end after merging several PDFs.
  • Meeting a submission rule that requires numbered pages.
  • Starting the count at the first body page instead of the cover.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF. Up to 200 pages and 50MB.
  2. Pick a format. When writing your own, {n} becomes the number and {total} the last number; everything else appears as typed.
  3. Set the position (top or bottom × left, centre or right), colour, size in points and margin in millimetres.
  4. To skip a cover, set which pages by hand, and use start number to control the printed figures.
  5. Check the preview and press Save as PDF.

Good to know

  • Numbers are drawn as small images with a font from your device. Any language works, but the numbers cannot be selected or searched. The body text is unaffected.
  • Size goes up to 36pt and the start number up to 9999.
  • Your original is untouched; the numbered copy is a new file.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.

Frequently asked questions

I want the count to start after the cover.

Set which pages to something like 2- and leave the start number at 1. Page two then carries the number 1. If instead you want every page numbered but the figures shifted, change the start number.

{total} does not match my page count.

{total} is the last number that gets printed, so it follows your start number and the range you chose. For the plain page count, number every page and start at 1.

I cannot select the numbers.

They are drawn as pictures. That is how any language can be placed accurately without shipping font files, and it leaves your body text untouched. If the numbers must be real text, add them in the program that produced the document.

The number overlaps the text.

Increase the margin in millimetres or move it to another corner; a slightly smaller size helps too. Page through the preview to check before saving.

Does it handle mixed page sizes?

Yes. The margin is measured in millimetres from each page edge, so a mix of A4 and A3 still gets numbers in the same visual spot.
