One page becomes one Word table. Paper size, margins, column widths, borders, merged cells, cell colours, font size and bold text and images are placed as in the original. Fonts embedded in the PDF and text colour are not carried over. Files are processed in your browser.

How to use

Converts a PDF into a Word file (.docx). Each page becomes one Word table, so paper size, margins, column widths, borders, merged cells, fills, font sizes, bold text and images land where they were. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

When to use it

  • Editing the wording of a document you only received as a PDF.
  • Reusing a contract or notice as the basis for a new document.
  • Changing a few words in Word while keeping the layout.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF. Up to 200 pages and 50MB.
  2. Pages are read in order; the preview shows what is coming across.
  3. Press Save as Word to download the .docx.

Good to know

  • One page becomes one table. That is what keeps every piece of text in its original spot; free-flowing paragraphs would scatter the layout.
  • Scanned PDFs cannot be converted — there is no text inside, and OCR is not part of this tool.
  • Fonts and text colours are not carried over, though sizes and bold are.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.

Frequently asked questions

Why is everything inside a table?

A PDF only records that a character sits at a position. Cells are what hold those positions. Without them, columns and indents would collapse. You can hide the table borders in Word.

I want to edit it as flowing paragraphs.

Copy the text out of the cells into a new document and it flows freely. Keeping the layout and editing freely pull in opposite directions; this tool picked layout.

The font is different.

Fonts embedded in a PDF usually cannot be reused directly, and substituting a lookalike changes where lines break — which distorts more than it fixes. So the default font is used and only size and weight are preserved.

I only need the words.

Use the PDF text extractor. The layout is lost, but the text is the easiest to work with.
