Everything is calculated in your browser. The dates you type are never sent to a server.

How to use

Shows how many days lie between two dates, the same span in weeks, the breakdown in years, months and days, and the count with weekends removed. Dates are never uploaded.

When to use it

  • Counting the length of a contract or a hotel stay.
  • Expressing a project span in weeks and days.
  • Counting working days, weekends excluded.

How to use it

  1. Pick the start and end dates; there is a swap button if you mix them up.
  2. Choose the basis: exclusive (difference) or inclusive (day count).
  3. Days, weeks, the year-month-day breakdown and the weekday-only count all appear together.

Good to know

  • If the end date comes first, the two are swapped automatically and you are told, rather than being shown a negative number.
  • The weekday count removes Saturdays and Sundays only — not public holidays, which differ by country and year and cannot be done accurately.
  • Years, months and days follow the calendar, so "one month" is not a fixed number of days.
  • For hours and minutes, use the elapsed time tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is the start date included?

Your choice. Exclusive counts the difference (5th to 10th = 5 days); inclusive counts the days themselves (5th to 10th = 6). Hotel nights usually use the former, working days the latter.

Does it deduct public holidays?

No. Holidays vary by country, change from year to year and carry substitution rules, so they cannot be handled reliably. Saying plainly that only weekends were removed beats a confident wrong number.

How many days is "one month"?

It depends on the month. 31 January to 28 February reads as about one month but is 28 days, which is why the total number of days is shown alongside the breakdown. Trust the day count when precision matters.
